Ya never know who you’ll meet on the trail

Still hurr!

Haha yeah so today’s day 3. In bed earlier than yesterday. Geezum crowe. And I got my period today! Joy! Almost summitted Glastenbury w/ Steve, Dan, Charlie, Mateo, Alex and Sam. But ankle was throbbing so I cut out early. Camped at the base of the mountain, will summit tomorrow. And get water. Steve’s really nice. And funny. He, Charlie & Dan work together. Dan’s girlfriend has two kids: Mateo and Alex. The three men do IT work, testing hard drives and stuff. Steve deals w/ logistics. “If a server’s down in Thailand, I can fix that”. Along those lines. Steve had a blog about weight loss. He called it Continue reading “Ya never know who you’ll meet on the trail” →

Thru-Hiking the Long Trail Day 1

It’s been a while!

IMAG4150

campground #13 with judith, pre-trail

In the last couple of weeks I finished up nannying, cleaned my last house for a while, cleaned up my room to get it ready to sublet, cooked & dehydrated my last couple boxes of pasta, and hiked 57 miles through the Green Mountains!

My friend Judith drove me to Williamstown, MA last Wednesday and we dined at Noco Pastaria and camped at the Winston County Park. They had a nice pond to swim in, and a clean & quiet bath house to shower in. We started the trail on Thursday the 3rd and Judith hiked the first 3.3 miles with me until we reached the official start of the Long Trail, just over the Massachusetts border.

My journal entry from day 1:

“Thursday, 9/3/15 LT Day 1    7:02 PM      6.7 hiked Continue reading “Thru-Hiking the Long Trail Day 1” →

FH World Sports

FH World Sports.

It’s 10:27 PM on August 7th. And 27 days until I begin my 272.7 miles through the entire state of Vermont. Weird numerical coincidences? Perhaps.

My thru-hike is in collaboration with FH World Sports which is an organization that aids athletes (like me!) in raising funds to help solve world poverty.

Check out this link FH World Sports to see my page and make a donation! Any amount helps. Keep checking out my “aventuras” category page in the next few weeks for updates on the Long Trail!

ebb & flow

I scurried down a steep rock face using my hands to grab onto the edge of boulders as I felt out good places to put my shoes as I climbed down towards the sea. My bike should be okay up there. I don’t think anyone would steal it. Nahh, it’s a small island. I’ll turn around and check on it every couple of minutes. I placed my foot on what I thought to be a sturdy rock but it wobbled back and forth as I Continue reading “ebb & flow” →

the long trail

Currently can’t stop blogging. This whole wordpress thing is pretty addicting. And it’s awesome because it gives me a justifiable excuse to be introverted. Frankly, I can be pretty social too. When I’m around my people who I feel at ease with, friends, mentors, family (for the most part), I talk and joke and laugh and want to do fun things with them. I moved to a new place in a new state alone a few months ago and it’s been an interesting journey to say the least. In order to find out anything about where Continue reading “the long trail” →
