“…Award? You never mentioned an award.”
Thank you to The Blogger on the Mount for nominating me for this award! I love having an online community to connect with over posts and shared ideas. I love writing posts that can reach people and that people can relate to. I also love reading and enjoying similar posts ~ 🙂
I will now answer the following 11 questions:
How and where do you write?
Well, I write every morning as soon as I wake up in my journal and sometimes develop brilliant ideas for bigger writings which I then transfer onto my laptop. I also try to type at least 300 words a day (which usually turns into more) in various LibreOffice documents. I’m usually in my bed or on the couch. At home. In a quiet space!!!!
What is your favourite colour and why?
Blue. It’s been blue for a few years now. Steel blue, ocean blue. It is so maybe because of my eye color. Or maybe because I’m attracted to the water and to staring out into the sky.
Do you have a favourite quote? If so, what is it?
“Haste makes waste” is one that I always say. Or “You reap what you sow”. I have other favorites, but of course can’t think of them at this moment. And they also change as my life changes. But these verses have stuck true. *fist-pounds chest over heart twice*
What’s the most inspiring book you have ever read?
Oh geez. Umm Jesus>Religion by Jefferson Bethke is awesome for so many reasons. If you haven’t read it, pick up a copy with the link above… an easy, must-read.
[I love Tolstoy, even though it’s thick, I am in awe of his ability to describe everyday phenomena so clearly, intricately and beautifully.
I’m currently reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and am blown away by his writing style. His vocabulary and wittiness is amazing.]
Neil Anderson’s books. Victory Over the Darkness is a great place to start. Neil clearly explains God’s love for us and provides tools and thinking tactics to develop productive ways of living as a child of God.
What music do you listen to if you need cheering up?
The Grateful Dead. Or “Carpenters” station on Slacker/Pandora. I also love LOVE Elliot Smith and his station. Though his music isn’t always … cheerful, persay. It’s rather artistic and mellow. Great background for vegetable chopping.
What time of the year is your favourite and why?
Autumn in New England, for sure. It’s sweater weather, which means wearing a fluffy sweater without getting hot. Plus, hiking is simply ahmazing, with the most beautiful scenery of freshly fallen leaves blanketing the trails. Don’t forget crisp apples falling into my palms left and right. Corduroy pants. The smell of autumn air. Chilly mornings.
Autumn is the season of change too. It’s always been an exciting time of year (usually the time to go back to school) … so that was always fun to prepare for. Summer ending, new beginnings. OH! And October is my birthday month. G’times, g’times.
Name the best place you have ever visited?
The best place I have ever visited. Umm Colorado is up there. I went in March to go skiing and hang with camp buds. And my dear college friend who I miss!! That was awesome. Visiting family in Arizona was dreamy as well! Going anywhere for only a few hours or days is always magical and romantic.
And there are SO many more places to see <3 God is so good. I LOVE BEING ALIVE!! 🙂
Has a particular experience shaped the way you think?
How do I narrow my answer down!!
I have a degree in psychology which discusses “nature versus nurture” and whether or not our natural genetic disposition/brains/inborn traits, or the environment in which we grow up has more influence on our personalities.
That being said, every experience of my life has shaped me!
Being one of five kids! Being a daughter, a middle child. Learning how to be a caretaker and being empathetic. Learning patience.
My parents divorce/using drugs/moving a lot.
Struggling with an eating disorder!
Travelling to Nicaragua and India!
Going to the same college as my high school sweetheart! (And then breaking up with him ~2 weeks later… yikes :-/ )
Each decision we make/every experience we have adds up our life to the perfect mosaic that makes us US!
I could go on. 🙂
How do you like to spend your free time?
exercising. biking. swimming. prepping food. making smoothies. chopping vegetables. reading books. seeking wisdom through fulfilling conversation. praying/praising God! eating sweets. writing writing writing. <3
In what way is this Christmas going to be special for you?
I love watching people open gifts! I put a lot of thought into the gifts I give and it’s always very rewarding to watch people enjoy their gift. celebrating love for one another makes Christmas special for me!!!
My blog is about faith and learning more about God. What does faith mean to you?
Faith means being willing and able to trust the Creator with our lives, and believing that He will take care of us no matter what; we are never alone. Faith is understanding that through every good or bad, hard or easy, joyful or sad experience, nothing can EVER separate us from God’s love. He IS always! taking CARE of us every second of every day! Faith is trusting and glorifying. Praising and appreciating. It is knowing God and opening up our hearts to Him to openly know us. It’s not trying to hide ourselves from Him or holding ourselves back from giving ourselves to Him. It is being vulnerable before Him and to everyone around us FOR him. <3
